Dear Colleagues,
Welcome to Volume 8 of the Journal of Research on the College President. In this volume, you will find three exceptional studies that help provide an even stronger understanding of what has been described as one of the hardest jobs in not only in higher education, but in the country. These three articles were accepted through our peer review process, and this year we had 11 submissions, resulting in a 27% acceptance rate.
Due to staffing changes at the University of Arkansas, the home of the National Lab for the Study of the College President, the journal will be taking a year off from publication. Questions related to the Lab should be directed to Dr. Michael Hevel (hevel@uark.edu). The future of the journal is currently uncertain and will not be published in 2025. Questions regarding the journal in 2026 can be directed to me in my new role (mtmller6@memphis.edu). Our hope is that with a one-year hiatus we will be able to reconceptualize the journal and assure that important scholarship related to the college presidency continues.
Throughout the publication of the journal, we wish to thank Ben Pollock for his help, support, and technical expertise. His behind-the-scenes work has been very helpful in the production of the journal and discussions about its future.
We also wish to extend our gratitude to Dr. Jennifer M. Miles for her help and support in the preparation of this volume of the journal.
Please accept our best wishes for the holiday season and check back to our website often to see announcements about the future of the journal.
Sincerely,
Michael T. Miller
